The French-themed restaurant chain, Côte, has many restaurants throughout the UK. In this Côte Brasserie Bristol review, we check out their west country edition on a Saturday lunchtime.
The restaurant in Bristol is located in the vibrant Clifton Village, which is nestled amongst various tourist attractions, other restaurants and shops.
Vibe
On first impression, we found the Côte Brasserie in Bristol to have a fairly pleasant ambiance. The service was of a relatively attentive standard from the get-go, as the staff member welcomed us in a friendly manner and found us a table for 4. She explained that the table was needed by a certain time and that was fine.
The restaurant has a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, with elegant furnishings, soft lighting, and a warm colour scheme. The attentive and friendly staff appeared to create a relaxing dining experience for us and the customers.
It was a bustling restaurant. It is quite a long room, with some tables on a higher level than others in an L-shaped room setup.
Food
The food was very good, of high-quality standard and served in generous portions, using fresh ingredients.
The menu at Côte Brasserie Bristol is extensive, offering a range of classic French dishes, such as moules marinières, steak frites, and crème brûlée. Our review team, however, opted for the following range of menu items:
Lunch:
- Confit pork belly
- Tartiflette
- 1 7oz fillet with a peppercorn sauce side
- 1 7oz fillet on its own
- Tap water & a Perrier to drink
- Tendertstem broccoli side
- Green salad side
Dessert:
- Pear & Almond Clafoutis
- Apple & Blackberry Crumble
- Chocolate Merveilleux
- Chocolate Fondant
- 1 Flat white coffee
It was a pretty busy part of the day in the brasserie and it did take a little while for the main course to arrive. When they did, it was worth the wait.
Each diner found the lunch and dessert to be very tasty. The steaks were cooked to specification, and the broccoli was tender and not too hard at all (a pet peeve of mine!).
A great gauge of the lunch (and definitely the desserts) was the fact that not one crumb was left over on any of the plates. All in all, it was a really nice meal.
Price
An aspect that some customers on other review sites have noted is that of the pricing at Côte Brasserie Clifton Village which some have found to be slightly expensive. However, this is often seen as justified by the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere.
Côte Brasserie Bristol is a justifiably popular dining destination if you are looking to enjoy classic French cuisine in a stylish and relaxed setting. While the prices may seem a bit steep for some budgets, I would say that if you are looking for something a little ‘high end’ (but not overly so) then it is well worth the cost.
The price for the above meal including a 10% service charge was £146.30. Overall, this is a lovely little restaurant and a highly recommended destination for your time in Bristol.
